Travelling from place to place every two nights gets really exhausting.
You barely have time to unpack your suitcase before you’re packing again to move on to the next place. Don’t get me wrong, we wanted to see as much of Indonesia as we could in the time we had there but sometimes you need to take some time out from sightseeing to recharge the batteries.
We took the fast boat from Lombok back to Bali. After it arrived late we stopped off at the Gili islands to pick more people up before heading onto Bali.
We had planned for our next hotel to pick us up in Ubud as our boat tickets included transport this far. The plan was to then head on to Munduk, our next stop. All going to plan, we should have arrived in Munduk after lunch sometime, but this is Asia and of course, nothing runs on time.
After chaos and confusion at the boat port, we were shoved into mini-buses and arrived in Ubud an hour and a half later. We met our very patient driver in Ubud and set off for Munduk. The drive took around two long hours and we finally arrived at our hotel, Munduk Moding Coffee Plantation Nature Resort and Spa, around four hours later than planned.
All was forgotten when we arrived at the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in (and to a gorgeous sunset). We were greeted with pretty flower garlands and given lemongrass, ginger and cinnamon tea as we checked in. I can’t wait to tell you all about the hotel, and our ‘holiday from travelling’ in the next post!
