I enjoyed our time in Bangkok but I’m a country girl and was ready for a bit of R&R.
After a few days, we hopped on a flight over to Bali. I’d heard great things and was excited to see what Bali had in store for us.
Our first stop was Ubud, an artsy town famous for its monkey forest, wood carvings and rice paddies. Its full of little organic cafes selling the best coffee around and seems to be a popular place with expats.
We spent our first day exploring the monkey forest and planning the next few days. You can probably guess from the name what the monkey forest is. The monkeys are said to be wild but I saw guards scaring the monkeys back into the forest if they were too near the outskirts. Despite this, it was still an interesting experience. It’s a fairly popular place with tourists and as such, the monkeys are very tame. I’d advise not taking any food or many valuables, these cheeky monkeys have been known to steel!
