A beach for me should be two things, clean and quiet. Its rare that you find a beautiful beach with hardly anyone on it. These are five of my favourite beaches around the World.
The Maldives will probably always be my favourite place to relax. The beaches are unbeatable and kept pristine. They speak for themselves!
Every time I open up my laptop and see a picture of Eagle beach, I want to cry a little at the fact that I’m not there. Its one of the largest, cleanest beaches I’ve ever been to with hardly anyone on it. It’s been voted number five on the Trip Advisor Travellers Choice 2014 award for the best beaches in the Caribbean and its obvious why.
If you’re looking to kick back and watch the sunset with a cold drink in your hand, Mandrem beach is the place for you. Don’t be surprised if you see the odd group yoga session on the beach, its surrounded by some fantastic yoga retreats which, besides yoga, offer meditation and massages. There are a fair number of beach sellers but they won’t bother you if you make it clear you don’t want to buy anything off them.
Theres something about a British beach that I just love. I hate having to fight for a sun lounger or patch of space to put my towel down and you’ll have no problems with that at Aberdovey. The sprawling beach is four miles of soft white sand. The sea might be a little chilly but thats half the fun isn’t it?
When I arrived in Koh Tao I was disappointed by the busyness of the beach (Sairee) and that most of the beach bars ran all the way up to the water, with no room for sunbathing. We soon realised that all it took was a stroll up to the very end of the beach to find no beach bars and barely any people. Pay a boat taxi to take you around the island for the day and snorkel in all the different bays.
